OZONE Vortex V2 Ultra-X: everything is possible, let it happen
The Vortex Ultra-X has become the kite of choice for riders who want to go huge and loop hard. With the V2, OZONE has refined everything that matters: sharper handling, improved durability and lighter large sizes that get you boosting in less wind. The result is an unrestricted big air machine that remains accessible to intermediate riders.
- Fast, predictable turning built for kite loops and megaloops.
- Strong forward drive, huge lift and outstanding hangtime.
- Reliable catch for soft, controlled landings.
- Stiffer leading edge and re-worked canopy tension for pinpoint feedback.
- New 17m size, which OZONE describes as the lightest three-strut kite on the market.
- Aluula airframe for a light, stiff and lively kite.
Who is it for?
Intermediate to pro riders who want to progress in big air, learn and push their kite loops, or simply send the biggest jumps of the session. It also performs brilliantly on a foil. If you like the concept but want a softer, more forgiving ride on a Dacron frame, check out the Reflex.
What's new in V2
- Re-worked canopy tension and a stiffer leading edge for precise handling.
- New anti-flap battens on the underside of the canopy for stability and longevity.
- Lighter 46 g double ripstop on the 10 to 17m sizes (up to 150 g saved) for better light-wind performance.
- 55 g triple ripstop on 9m and below for strong-wind durability.
- Tweaked 16-point bridle for improved depower and feel.
Technology
A three-strut Aluula airframe, double transverse leading-edge shaping, low-drag Technora bridle lines, a pulley-less four-line system and Fast Flow one-pump inflation. Back-line trim settings let you tune turning speed and bar pressure to your style.
From the designer
Lead designer Dom Zimmermann: "We wanted to build a kite that inspires confidence in all situations." He explains that the Vortex shares the high aspect ratio of the Edge, with extra arc for the handling response megaloops demand.
